The regular school board meeting started at 6:00 pm. Approximately 20 visitors were present.

Minutes:

  • The minutes of the Special August 11, 2008 and the Special August 19, 2008 Board of Education meeting were approved.

Visitors:

  • No Visitors spoke at this time.

Treasurer's Report (August 2008)

  • The Board unanimously approved all financial reports as presented.
  • Approved Auxiliary Service Allocations for Lial & Monclova Christian Schools
  • Approved 2008/09 CCIP
  • Approved 2008/09 Annual Appropriations and 5-Year Forecast



Superintendent's Educational Reports & Recommendations

  • Superintendent's Update - Dr. John Granger
    • Dr. Granger and Board President Don Atkinson recognized Val Sido as the 2008/09 Teacher of the Year and Jo Baer as the 2008/09 Support Staff Member of the Year
    • Jim Hutchinson, Chair of the Earned Income Tax Committee provided an update to the board.


  • The Board approved the following items:
    • Approved several transportation parental contracts.
    • FFA members to travel to Greenhand Camp
    • Revised Board Policies
    • Contracts with LCESC:
      • Consultant Services for Bill Baldridge
      • Caretaker services for a preschool student
      • The following students were approved for graduation with the Class of
        2008:
        • Colin Michalski
        • Lenora Stewart
        • JC Specht
        • Lindsey Park

Superintendent’s Personnel Recommendations

  • Approved the following individuals for employment:
    • Cynthia Myers, On-Bus Aide
    • Mike Yeager, Bus Driver
    • Lisa Jones, Bus Driver
    • Rob Meisner, Bus Driver
    • Mike Risner, Bus Driver
    • Dorothy DeLong, Bus Driver
    • Kelly Szparka, 1/2 time Title One teacher at Whitehouse Primary (one-year
      contract based on federal funds)
    • Monica Kronmann, part-time Title One teacher’s aide (one-year contract based
      on federal funds)
    • Connie Granger, part-time Title One teacher’s aide (one-year contract based on
      federal funds)

  • Approved substitute personnel, home instruction tutors and summer school teachers.

  • Approved supplemental and limited supplemental contracts and volunteers.

The meeting was adjourned at approximately 6:34 p.m.


The next regular Anthony Wayne Board of Education meeting will be
Tuesday October 14, 2008 at 6:00 pm in the Board Room at the
Anthony Wayne Central Administrative Office.

Visitor Participation

The Board Policy regarding public participation at Board meetings is outlined below. The presiding officer of the Board will follow the by-laws that govern public participation in Board meetings.

  • All visitors will identify him/herself and state the concern or suggestion.
  • Individuals and groups will have five minutes to speak before the Board about issues on the agenda.
  • Individuals and groups will have five minutes to speak before the Board about issues for future consideration.
  • Complaints to the Board concerning any school employee must be made in writing and be signed by the individual making the complaint.
  • During visitor comments, the presiding officer may:
    • Interrupt, warn or terminate a participant’s statement when the statement is too lengthy, personally directed, abusive, obscene, or irrelevant
    • Request any individual to leave the meeting when the person does not observe reasonable decorum
    • Request the assistance of law enforcement officers in the removal of a disorderly person when that person’s conduct interferes with the orderly progress of the meeting
    • Call for a recess or an adjournment to another time when the lack of public decorum so interferes with the orderly conduct of the meeting as to warrant such action
    • Waive these administrative guidelines with the approval of the Board when necessary for protection of privacy or the administration of the Board’s business.
