I am Mrs. Murry, the principal of Monclova Primary. My role encompasses all tasks that fall under being the instructional leader of the building, ensuring the smooth functioning of the building, and helping to create a safe learning environment for our students. I am available via phone, e-mail, or for conferences and am happy to assist families as we strive to meet the needs of all our students.
Jane Morgan, Secretary
My responsibilities include monitoring and processing student attendance, assisting students and parents with transportation issues, and managing incoming and outgoing student records. As part of that I process requests for vacations. I also assist students, parents, visitors and volunteers in the office as well as answer telephone inquiries. Further, I help administration, teachers, and staff whenever needed. In the absence of the school nurse I provide medical assistance to students. If I can be of assistance to you, please feel free to call or e-mail.
As Monclova’s school counselor, I am part of your child’s education team. This is my first year as a school counselor, and previously, I was a teacher at Monclova for nine years. Like a teacher, a counselor looks for ways to help each child be successful and maximize his or her potential, both academically and personally/socially. Counselors are human behavior and relationship specialists who have a commitment to individual uniqueness and work collaboratively with teachers, parents, and administrators to make school a rewarding and enjoying experience for your child. Elementary counselors deal with a broad spectrum of issues: from small issues like playground disagreements between students to much more serious issues like childhood anxiety, depression, or abuse. Common areas of focus include: emotional health, social skill building and peer interactions, parenting guidance, academic support and assistance, behavior, family stressors and changes, anger management, and conflict resolution. I work with students individually, in small groups, and within the classroom. I also consult with parents and teachers to problem solve possible solutions for student concerns. Please refer to the Monclova Minuteman newsletter on a regular basis for additional and updated information regarding Monclova's counseling program. If you have any questions or concerns that you would like to share, I can be reached daily by phone or email.
