AW Alumni & AWHS Invite Area Senior Citizens to Free Dessert March 12
February 11, 2008 Whitehouse, OH – The Anthony Wayne Alumni Association and the Anthony Wayne High School Drama Department invite area senior citizens to a free dessert and performance of the musical "High School Musical" Wednesday, March 12, 2008 in the Roy Williamson Auditorium at Anthony Wayne High School (5967 Finzel Road, Whitehouse). The dessert will start at 5:00 pm followed by the musical at 6:15 pm. Dessert and coffee will be provided free of charge by the Anthony Wayne Alumni Association.
"High School Musical" is an original Disney Channel movie that tells the story of high school basketball star Tony and brainy Gabriella who meet while on vacation and discover they both have musical talents. Both decide to try out for their high school musical, against the advice of their friends. “High School Musical” is the story of how their decision changes their lives and the general atmosphere of their school.
Anthony Wayne High School is the first high school in Ohio to perform this popular, high energy musical, according to director Rita Brandeberry. She said that the school is putting its own unique “Anthony Wayne touches” on the production, but that it will feature all the musical’s well known songs such as “Start of Something New,” “Stick to the Status Quo,” and “We’re All in this Together,” among others.
Anthony Wayne's production features over 100 actors and musicians. The play is directed by AWHS Teacher Rita Brandeberry. AWHS Teacher Dave Johnson is the Technical Director. AWHS Music Teacher Zakary Wilkins will conduct the pit orchestra.
