Students from Mr. Phillips and Mrs. Pollock’s classes recently participated in a stock competition that was run by the University of Toledo College of Business Administration.
The contest ran for 3 months and ended on November 30th and 32 classes participated. Each class was given $100,000 to invest in the stock market. Classes were able to manage their portfolios daily.
For the second year in row Anthony Wayne High School was well represented in the final standings. Mr. Phillips’ 2nd Period World Business class finished 4th with a portfolio total of $143,838. Mr. Philllips' 6th period Economics class finished 5th with a portfolio total of $130,530. Mr. Phillips’ 3rd period World Business class finished 6th with a portfolio total of $130,000. Mrs. Pollock’s Accounting class finished 7th with a portfolio total of $129,291. Mr. Phillips’ 1st period World Business class finished 8th with a portfolio total of $126,862.
As a result of their success in the competiton the classes were awarded a total of $1,375. They plan on using their money to purchase business simulation software for current and future business classes. |
