AW History Teachers Travel to Germany
Two Anthony Wayne High School teachers recently had the opportunity to travel to Germany as participants of an Ohio Study group. Randy Musgrove and Jeff Bunck, Anthony Wayne high school history teachers were awarded fellowships which allowed them to travel to Europe to study meaningful topics and themes in contemporary Germany. Mr. Randy Musgrove stated “As a teacher, this experience was extremely valuable and has had an impact on me both professionally and personally. From a professional perspective, the most meaningful lessons came in the form of differences in educational systems and daily practice between the United States and Germany, contemporary political and economic issues in Germany, German culture, and ideas that I am able to use as an educator in my classroom in relation to contemporary Germany.” One of the goals was to establish an internet discussion group with a school in Germany to foster communication and cultural exchanges between students while enhancing global issues and perspectives. Mr. Musgrove stated that this goal has been set up however the logistics of technology and scheduling between the two schools still needs to be worked out. “Nonetheless, I feel this step is an educational success for both schools and as a result the experience provided by Atlantik-Brucke was more of a success than I had imagined.”
