Meet Your School Board Candidates

October 25, 2007 - 7:00 p.m.

When the voters in the Anthony Wayne School District go to the polls on November 6th, they will have the important task of choosing three board members from the six individuals that are running for school board.

The League of Women Voters is sponsoring a “Meet the Candidate’s Night” on October 25th, 2007 beginning at 7:00 pm at the Whitehouse Primary School Gymnasium. This forum will offer community members the opportunity to learn more about the candidates and their views about issues facing the school district.

There are four newcomers and two incumbents running for three vacant seats on the Board. The incumbents are Gary Roser and John Rozic. The newcomers are Barry Cousino, Ronald Disher, Pam Gerhardinger, and Darrel Limes. It is important for voters to learn all they can about their school board candidates to make an informed decision when they vote on November 6th.

One of the most important duties of a school board member is to establish policies for the school system. All management decisions should follow logically from the board’s policies. School board members work closely with the superintendent and treasurer to develop and implement policies. The school board is the only elected body governing a local school district and serves for a 4-year term.
